Properly fitting ball links are essential to a precise but smooth control system. Now getting that sweet fitting ball link just got easier. A must for every tool box, the JR Ball Link Sizing tool can ream very small amounts of material from inside the link until the fit is just right. A small Phillips screw in the ball head of the tool can be tightened in small increments to successively remove more and more material to achieve a precise fit. Go slowly, its might tough to put material back!.
Note however that when I attempted to use this tool on one of my Schluter ball links, the Phillips screw did not have enough travel to expand the ball sufficiently to get enough material removed for the best fit. Slim Helson recommended using a small jewelers saw to extend the slot in the tool's ball head, which allows the ball to spread a bit more. You can see in the image below the slightly narrower slot we cut that extends down to the base of the ball. This solved the problem nicely and the tool works great even for non-JR ball links. Highly recommended!
