| As I drove over to Loveland for the 3pm ride I
passed through several snow squalls but thought nothing of it as they
were brief and light. About 10 had gathered to ride Temperature at
ride time was 38 degrees, two degrees lower than when I had left my
house. We all bundled up and headed out. Dave D and I headed up 48
with the intent of meeting the Gazelles, who
headed up Dallasburg, on the route. No sooner had we left the
parking lot than the snow began. It got heavier as we rolled up 48
and was sticking to the trees. The road was wet. Halfway up
48 snow was accumulating on me and on my glasses. Dave D was
grumbling saying he couldn't see and was following my flashing tail
light. I didn't tell him I couldn't see either
as my glasses were icing over. We got to the Harrison and
discretion became the better part of valor. We turned around and
headed back via Adams to avoid the 48 traffic which couldn't see us and
better than we could see them. We completed the first G4B Spring
Blizzard ride safely, all of seven miles. The Gazelles thought
better of riding as well and turned up in the
parking lot 5 minutes later. We adjourned to the works to warm up
at the junior high lunch table. Ask David H. about that. .
