Gary's Fire Road Ride - Shawnee neighborhood, Portsmith, Ohio

Seven of us ventured out. Sure missed you guys! Great time ...very hard, a lot of gravel from this last Spring. Fantastic chili lunch at Picnic Point, Shawnee Park, courtesy of Mike Hart of Mycle's Cycle of Georgetown. This was a hard core ride, I'm still impressed with the group we had today. Let's all go out again in a few weeks, say after the dreaded S.O.G. Last night I couldn't communicate well, pretty much just pointed at things and grunted, still I am of minimal words. Yesterday we did Forest rd. #5, (it's the squiggliest road on the map of Scioto Cnty. or in the world for that matter). Mike and I tempo rode our butts off, but we waited for our buds' a bit, no problem with the scenery that surrounded us. There was a little more gravel than usual, so fat tires might be good out there for now. Yeah it was hard, but only because of the inches of gravel that was spread on every road. Except for #5 which is the best road ever and where most of the vista pics were taken from, all of the roads were covered with new gravel that evidently are covered every 5 years or so....maybe? Last year it was so fast I had 1.5 mt. bike tires pumped to 80lbs. on, usually people use 2.0 -2.2 size tires. To say the least the new gravel was brutal. also I intended to cruise the ride and take allot of pictures but, Kent's brother-in-law, Mike Malone was making my hypothalamus angry and the tempo from hell program got rebooted over and over. Otherwise I would have taken more pix' .....That Mike Malone (he's been on some 100 milers' with us. I tell ya' it's more beautiful in the winter than it is in Fall...really. But mostly ...I wanna' go slow and easy and take lots a pix'
